Pina Coletti Song
Ok, ok, I HAD to do it . . . . with the chatter yesterday about pina colettis, it got me to thinking about a song, so here it is:
.
Pina Coletti Song
.
So Frankie got tired of Paul D
They’d been together too long
Like a worn-out recording
Of a very bad song
So he sat and started thinking
Of what his next move should be
Looked down into some garbage
Said “Coletti I’ll see”
.
If you like Pina Colettis
And getting caught in the rain
I heard he’s not into yoga
And he has half a brain
He’ll make the fans howl at midnight
from the bad deals that he’ll make
Then Ned’s the love that I’ve looked for
The player’s hearts he will break
.
Frank didn’t think about the Dodger way
That was more than kind of mean
Then he and his old lady
Established a power couple routine
So he wrote to old Neddy
And took him out on a date
And gave him the job saying
GM of the Dodgers is your fate
.
And Frankie likes his Pina Colettis
And getting caught in the rain
He’s not much into common sense
But he loves his champagne
So we’ll sign Ned by tomorrow noon
And cut through all this red-tape
At a place called Dodger Stadium
Where they’ll plan their escape.
.
So the fans waited with high hopes
As Neddy took up the reins
We knew his smile in an instant
But found nothing good fell into place
It was all that dumpster diving
With the all PVL’s he’s chased
Neddy fouled up the Dodger Blue
Because he never had a clue
.
Frank likes his Pina Colettis
And getting caught in the rain
He heard Ned’s not into yoga
And he has half a brain
He’ll make the fans howl at midnight
from the bad deals that he’s made
Ned’s the love that Frankie looked for
The player’s hearts he will break
Help!
Now is as good a time to post my spin on our situation through a song. Profound apologies to Paul McCartney and John Lennon . . .
.
Help, we need somebody,
Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know we need someone,
Help!
.
When we were younger, so much younger than today,
O’Malley owned the club – now those were happy days.
But now those days are gone, we’re not so self assured,
McCourt says he’s the boss, charges more to open the doors.
.
Help us if you can, we’re feeling down
And we don’t appreciate Frank being ’round.
Help us get our feet back on Series ground,
Won’t you please, please help us?
.
And now our lives have changed in oh so many ways,
Can’t we ever get out of the PVL signing phase?
But often times and more we feel so insecure,
How can we bring the team back to the way it was before?
.
Help us if you can, we’re feeling down
And we don’t appreciate JoJo the clown.
Help us get our feet back on Series ground,
Won’t you please, please help us?
.
When we were younger, so much younger than today,
We never needed anybody’s help in any way.
But now those days are gone, we’re not so self assured,
Trading our prospects for rentals, it just ain’t all that good.
.
Help us if you can, we’re feeling down
And we do appreciate your being ’round
Help get our feet back on Series ground,
Won’t you please, please help us?
Help us,
Help us,
Ooooooo.
Big Jon
Hey everyone!
.
Time for another jump into the deep end. This one’s for you, Jonathan Broxton!
Big Jon
Every morning at the park you could see him arrive.
He stands 6 foot 5, weighs 295.
Kind of broad at the shoulders with a strong right arm.
And everybody knew you didn’t give no lip to Big Jon.
.
Big Jon
Big Jon
Big Bad Jon
Big Jon
.
Nobody seemed to know where Jon called home
He just sits in the bullpen and waits for the phone.
He doesn’t say much, kind of quiet and shy
And if you speak at all, you’d just say hi to Big Jon.
Somebody said he came from Augusta, GA,
Where he learned to pitch; all the scouts said, “Hey!”
With fast balls and curves from a huge right hand,
Sent opposing batters to the promised land.
.
Big Jon
Big Jon
Big bad Jon
Big Jon
.
Then came that day at the bottom of the ninth,
Other team’s men on base and Joe started crying.
Dodger fans were praying, and hearts beat fast
and everybody thought they had breathed their last
cept’ Jon.
.
Through the dust and the smoke of this man made hell,
walked a giant of a man that the Dodgers knew well.
Grabbed a fresh baseball and gave out with a groan,
and like a giant oak tree he just stood there alone, Big Jon
.
Big Jon
Big Jon
Big Bad Jon
Big Jon
.
And with all of his strength, he gave a mighty throw.
Then the batter yelled out, ‘Oh my God, no!’
With pitches so crafty, the batter dug his own grave
now there’s only one out left to get the save, Big Jon.
.
With bat on his shoulder the hitter tried to stare him down
Then came that rumble from down in the ground
A trail of smoke . . . a fastball so fine
That batter knew it was the end of the line, by Big Jon.
.
Big Jon
Big Jon
Big Bad Jon
Big Jon
.
Now he’s saving games and making a name
All opposing batters he has tamed
And Dodger fans cheer when he throws the ball
At the end of each game he says “Fu Q, all!”
.
Big Jon
Big Jon
Big Bad Jon
Big Jon.
TOO MUCH, TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE
Nelly, I was inspired . . . found and slightly revised a song. Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams – many apologies!
.
TOO MUCH, TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE
.
Guess it’s over, call it a day
Sorry that it had to end this way
No reason to pretend
We knew it had to end like this
This way
.
Guess it’s over, the bullpen’s gone
Why does Joe keep them throwing on and on
Somewhere he lost the key
Pitchers awfully wild and free
And it’s clear to see
.
Too much, too little, too late to win a game with them
Too much, too little, too late to try again with them
He’s finding out something that we knew
Was over {Oh, it was over}
.
Too much, too little, too late to get the batters out
Too much, too little, too late, Joe, you can’t use the crowd
Too much, too little, too late, over managing again
And it’s over (It’s over)
.
Guess it’s over, the runs are in (Whoa, babe)
The way the pen is used is surely such a sin
Whatever chance we had, Oh no, it’s just so bad
It’s over {It’s over}, it’s over {Oh…no…}
.
Too much, too little, too late to get the batters out
Too much, too little, too late, Joe, you can’t use the crowd
Too much, too little, too late, we know it has to end
And it’s over {And it’s over}, it’s over {And it’s over}
.
Too much, too little, too late, over managing again
Too much, too little, too late, it’s something he can’t pretend
Too much, too little, too late, we know it has to end
We ITD bloggers love our team
Hi TruBlue – I feel the same about our ITD family as you. And as a result, I’ve written a song, so with abject apologies to Helen Reddy, here it is:
.
We ITD bloggers love our team
Through wins and losses we always cheer and root them on
When others turn their backs and walk away
We can be counted on to stay
.
Remember when Joe Torre came to town
And we were frightened by that clown?
Messing with the line-up, never knowing what to do
And trying to convince us that he’s bleeding Dodger Blue
.
We ITD bloggers love our team
Through wins and losses we always cheer and root them on
And for all the times we’ve cried we always hoped
The odds were on our side
.
So when this seasons’ end has come
And we bloggers are left to carry on
Then remembering victories will have to do
Our memories alone will get us through
Think about the days of Dodger Blue
ITD bloggers ever true
By the light of the gibberish moon
Here’s my take on howling at the moon -
.
By the light of the gibberish moon,
We just may swoon.
Bet you money
We’ll be hurling soon.
O my God, it’s been shining since June,
Its’ ugly beams will bring sick dreams,
We’ll be cringing real soon,
By the gibberish moon.
It’s my lineup and I’ll play who I want to
I’ve been a Dodger fan since 1954 – a very long time ago! As long as players wear the Dodger blue, I will cheer them on. BUT this management team is making some HUGE judgement mistakes, as we all know. Enchanted, Messagebear, Leekfink, Nelly – you have it right and I’m with you . . . So because my favorite outfielder has been unfairly benched, I’m ready to join you-all in the deep end . . . I give you my version of It’s My Party:
Nobody knows where our Andre has gone
PVLs show up at the same time
Why can’t the manager see
Playing PVLs is such a crime
Joe says – it’s my lineup and I’ll play who I want to
Play who I want to, play who I want to
Who looks at stats
It’s a feeling thing for me
Playing Andruw, playing JP
Why, oh why can’t he see
Fans cry for Andre each day
To play in LA to stay
Joe says – it’s my lineup and I’ll play who I want to
Play who I want to, play who I want to
Who looks at stats
It’s a feeling thing for me
JP and Joey just walked through the door
Just as happy as they can be
Oh what a horrid surprise
JP’s wearing his ring
Joe says – it’s my lineup and I’ll play who I want to
Play who I want to, play who I want to
Who looks at stats
It’s a feeling thing for me
I had to do it . . . . a new song for Frank and Jamie.
.
“The Team Is Mine”
Frank: Every night they walk right in my dreams
Since I bought them from the start
I’m so proud I am the only one
Who is special in their hearts
.
The team is mine
The Dodgers team is mine
I know they’re mine
Because the Dodgers team Is mine
.
Jamie: I don’t understand the way you think
Saying that they’re yours not mine
Raising prices and your silly dreams
Really just a waste of time
.
Because they’re mine
The Dodgers team is mine
Don’t waste your time
Because the Dodgers team is mine
.
I love them more than he
(Tho’ they’re losing everywhere)
.
Frank: But I love them endlessly
(No loving we will share)
.
So just go away
To another town
.
Jamie: But we both cannot have them
So it’s one or the other
And one day you’ll discover
That they’re my team forever and ever
.
I don’t build your hopes to be let down
‘Cause I really feel it’s time
.
Frank: Telling you now that I’m the one for them
‘Cause I sneezed and blew my mind
The team is mine
The Dodgers team is mine
Don’t waste your time
Because the Dodgers team is mine
.
Jamie: No, No, No, they’re mine
The team is mine, The team is mine
The team is mine, The team is mine
.
Frank: The team is mine, (Yep) they’re mine
The team is mine, (Yep) they’re mine
.
Jamie: Don’t waste your time
Because the Dodgers team is mine
The team is mine, The team is mine
.
Frank, we’re not going to fight about this, okay
.
Jamie, I think I told you, I’m a lover not a fighter
.
I’ve heard it all before, Frank
The driver told me he’s my forever lover, you know, don’t you remember
.
Frank: Well, after loving me, I understand that you could love another
.
Jamie: Is that what I said
.
Frank: Yes, you said it, you keep dreaming
.
Jamie: I don’t believe it
.
Frank/Jamie: The team is mine (mine, mine, mine)
